Campinas, May 17, 2008: The Free Will Baptists of the Campinas -- Araras region of the State of São Paulo gathered in a great celebration at the First FWB Church of Campinas to celebrate 50 years of ministry to that city. This celebration was also part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of FWB International Missions activity in the country of Brazil. The church was filled as a joint choir sang, other groups sang and played, Pr. Lucas Lima preached, and former pastor James Sturgill told of placing a "time capsule" about six feet deep in the concrete of the cornerstone of the worship center that was being built.
There were visitors present from the USA, as well as a group that traveled from Belo Horizonte First Church to be present for the special service.
Also as part of this event, the Campinas - Araras Regional Association of Free Will Baptist Churches was organized and the newly elected officers were installed.
